SWFL women’s: Harvey Bulls establish themselves as women’s team to beat with 45-point win over Dunsborough

Harvey Bulls women’s side established themselves as the team to beat in the South West Football League after a 45-point win over Dunsborough at Dunsborough Playing Fields on Sunday. The top-of-the-table clash between the competition’s two unbeaten sides promised much but was dominated by the Bulls, who did not concede a goal and held the Sharks scoreless for the final three terms in a brilliant 7.4 (46) to 0.1 (1) victory. Trinity Brown produced another brilliant performance in the win while forward Caitlin Shales slotted four goals, with Larissa Versaci, Larissa Tartaglia and Sierraleone Simpson among the other strong performers. The loss sees the Sharks slip back to fourth behind Busselton and Bunbury on percentage while the Bulls maintain their spot atop the ladder. Sunday’s other contest saw South Bunbury back up their WA Day derby win by beating Carey Park by 31 points at Hands Oval. The hosts kept the pressure on the competition’s top four with a 4.9 (33) to 0.2 (2) victory over the last-placed Panthers, whose only win this season came from a Collie forfeit in round three. Megan Bain continued a strong season for the Tigers in the win, with Mikayla Balloch and Jada Scott kicking two goals apiece. On Saturday, Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault grabbed their third win of the season with a 14-point victory over Eaton. The Lions were inaccurate in front of goal, managing only three majors from twelve scoring shots, but did enough to register a 3.9 (27) to 2.1 (13) win over the Boomers. Claire Edwards, Bree Hurrell and Halle Phillips were the goal-kickers on the day, with Matilda Fowler, Lauren Patane and Olivia Templeton putting in strong performances for the winners.
