The second stage of Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront is in progress with the redevelopment of Casuarina Boat Harbour and Jetty Causeway.

Completed early last year, phase one works saw an additional 31,000 tonnes of local rock placed along the 600 metre causeway to improve protection during storm events.

Department of Transport Director Project Delivery Cameron Smith said a major component of the TBW project’s second stage is the $12.65 million Jetty Road causeway upgrade delivered by DoT.

“This is delivered in two phases including structural upgrades to the causeway, improved amenity and services for the community and pen holders, beautification of the causeway, construction of a multi-purpose building incorporating public toilets and improved accessibility,” he said.

The Phase 2 civil, services, landscaping and building works contract was awarded 10 July 2019 and on-site works commenced in August 2019.

Mr Smith said installation of services (power, water, sewerage and communications), pavement including kerbing and footpaths and retaining walls is in progress.

“Recent work on the multi-purpose building has seen footings, services, slab and steel structure completed,” he said.

“The building walls and roof will follow and completion is expected later this year.”
