Ring ring! Albo takes to the phones

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has made a surprise visit to the Telethon phone room.

Fresh off announcing a $6 million contribution to the fundraiser from the Federal Government, Mr Albanese took calls and donations from West Aussies in the PerthNow phone room.

“Our children are our future, and we have a responsibility to ensure they have the best start in life,” he said.

“We are proud to once again support the Channel 7 Telethon Trust and its efforts to help Australian children to thrive.

“This funding is an investment in Australia’s world-leading research sector and will help Australian researchers to develop new techniques and treatments to improve the health and wellbeing of Australian children.

“With chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes continuing to rise, it is more important than ever that we support research into how parental health impacts a child’s life.”

Albo hands over $6 million donation

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has inflated the Telethon tally with a mammoth $6 million donation on behalf of the Australian government.

The generous donation has tipped the total tally to an impressive $28,788.617.

“The best thing is the kids themselves. They are so uplifting, they’re full of joy and going through hardship,” He said.

“The spirit of the whole of WA. This is the largest per capita fundraising, not just in Australia but the world. That’s something West Australians should be very proud of.”

One of the terms you might hear often over the Telethon weekend is “every single cent counts”.

It’s not used flippantly, it’s meant literally.

Even if you can only spare $2, give Telethon a call on 1300 737 507 and make it count.
