Top 10 things to do this week

Bunbury will be getting into the spirit of Christmas at Sunday's Christmas Carnival and Parade, and probably topping it off with some Christmas shopping with a difference at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries.

1. Christmas Carnival

The Bunbury City Council’s Christmas Carnival and Parade on Sunday will bring the city to life with children’s activities, a family concert and the always popular procession of colourful floats. The event begins at 3pm at Bicentennial Square and the parade gets under way at 6.45pm.

2. Catch a movie

Watch all the latest blockbuster films at Grand Cinemas Bunbury. Exodus: Gods and Kings, the latest film from acclaimed director Ridley Scott, opens on Thursday. Exodus reimagines the ancient battle of wills between Israelite leader Moses, played by Christian Bale, and Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, played by Australian actor Joel Edgerton.3. Christmas Shop

Kicking off on Thursday, Bunbury Regional Art Galleries’ annual Christmas Shop exhibition gives visitors an opportunity to view and buy original artworks and art objects at affordable prices. Works in all media, including glass, ceramics, woodwork, textiles, sculpture, jewellery, photography, painting and works on paper may be exhibited. BRAG is open daily from 10am to 4pm.

4. Vocal Fusion

5. Multi-Sport Fun Day

Bunbury will celebrate the International Day of People with Disability tomorrow with a free Have-A-Go Multi-Sport Fun Day for people of all ages and abilities. It will run from 9.30am to 2.30pm at the Regional Athletics Arena at Hay Park. People are encouraged to register as teams before the event, to participate with schools, workplaces and community groups.

6. Open Mic Night

Cellars Bar at Lighthouse Beach Resort will host this popular monthly night of entertainment from a range of talented South West performers. 7. Bunbury Cup

Bunbury Trotting Club’s premium event of the season is on this Saturday. The 2014 Bunbury Pacing Cup boasts a record-setting $50,000 prize pool and the new sprint lane is sure to produce some wild finishes on a night of titillating trotting. Gates open at 5pm. 8. Live music

The Prince of Wales Hotel has another stellar act this weekend with Melbourne band Husky taking the stage on Saturday and bringing Bunbury audiences their second album Ruckers Hill for the first time. Doors open at 8pm on December 6.

9. Marquee music

Sanctuary Golf Resort is holding a Marquee Music session on Sunday. Featuring live music from Bill Shepherd, the event runs from 3pm to 6pm. There are food and drink specials. Entry is free.

10. Wine night

Award-winning restaurant Casellas is set to enlighten and inspire palates on Friday night when it brings back its Corruption – The Science of Wine event. The bar staff will throw on lab coats and fire up the Bunsen burners to share the intriguing world of wine science.
