Bunbury will be represented by a group of mates at Variety WA's Port to Port Bash in August.

Dan Glover has bought the 1967 Holden HR and will captain a team for the week-long drive from Port Denison to Karratha in the State's north.

The car has been involved in three previous bashes and was refurbished using Bunbury painters and new graphics for its latest adventure.

It features Finding Nemo-inspired graphics and Mr Glover said helping children was the main reason for his involvement.

"It's all about the kids so we've gone with a kids theme," he said.

"It's a really good feeling when you're raising money for the charity and kids.

"From a mateship point of view, it's one of those bucket list items and something we can say we did, plus have the feeling of knowing we're helping someone."

As a first-time bash entrant, Mr Glover's four-person team must raise at least $8000.

They have raised almost $6000 already and are seeking further sponsors to boost their fundraising, with sponsors receiving an advertising sticker on the car.

Variety raises money for children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs and 2015 is the 27th year of the WA bash.

The Port to Port Bash runs from August 8-15, while in August, a separate Variety bash starting from New South Wales will also pass through Bunbury.

To sponsor Mr Glover's team, contact him on 0428 589 281 or Paul on 0408 903 029.
