Day to deal with survivor stress
Speakers at Thursday's Breast Cancer Resource Day at Dot's Place sayit will "empower" cancer survivors to overcome different survivorship issues.
The Breast Cancer Resource Day was organised by Cancer Council WA in conjunction with the McGrath Foundation.
The event boasts six speakers including Cancer Council WA regional cancer support coordinator Hayley Tuck and McGrath Foundation breast cancer nurse Yarna Sargent.
Ms Tuck said the resource day would discuss how to conquer financial, emotional and relationship stresses caused by cancer.
"We hope to empower people to look at other avenues to help reduce reoccurrence, look out for signs, be healthy in general and also link them with the health services out there," she said.
Mrs Sargent, a breast cancer care specialist, said the event provided a positive outlook.
"People have got the opportunity to get back to a level where they are fitter than when they were first diagnosed with cancer," she said.
"It's a hopeful and exciting event promoting a new and different view."
