Greenfields hit-and-run: Brayden Bradshaw granted third adjournment for further negotiations

The man allegedly behind a shocking hit-and-run incident in Mandurah which left mother-of-five Sherylee Bonney lying in a pool of her own blood in bushland has been granted a third adjournment in his latest court proceedings. Brayden Bradshaw made a brief appearance in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday facing three charges, including one count of dangerous driving in circumstances which subsequently occasioned grievous bodily harm. His lawyer Jesse Cox asked for a further four-week adjournment to continue negotiations with the prosecution. Mr Bradshaw was last adjourned on November 22 after hiring Mr Cox to represent him. The 31-year-old is accused of mowing down Ms Bonney while she was walking home from the local shops on September 20, leaving her for dead in bushland just metres from her family home in Greenfields. It’s alleged Mr Bradshaw then returned to the scene hours later with his five-year-old son to act as a good Samaritan who found Ms Bonney and call emergency services. The 39-year-old mother was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and underwent surgery for hip damage, her condition slowly improving in the days after the incident. She continues to work with the rehabilitation team at Fiona Stanley but has a long road to recovery. Mr Bradshaw was arrested on September 21 and appeared in court for the first time on September 22. Ms Bonney’s father Robert Ugle was present during Mr Bradshaw’s last court appearance in November and called the delay “a disappointment”. “We’d like to hear a plea or indication that things are moving forward,” he said. “We don’t want this to go on any longer than it needs to.” A plea is yet to be taken by Mr Bradshaw. Magistrate Leanne Atkins said she would grant the short adjournment if it meant progress could be made on the next occasion. “If we can try resolve things earlier, then there’s merit in that,” she said. “I’m giving you an opportunity for negotiation.” Mr Bradshaw’s bail was extended to face court again on January 20.
