Bunbury's next big thing in boxing began his professional career with a win on Friday night.

Sam Blyth, who signed with Denning Boxing Gym earlier this year, took down Victorian David Cannon in the second round to win by technical knock-out.

Blyth hit Cannon in the first round with a big left hook to the body and the Victorian never recovered.

The former amateur dropped Cannon twice in the first round and twice in the second, with the fourth hit forcing the referee to stop the fight.

Denning Boxing Gym trainer Pete Stokes said he was impressed with the fight.

"Cannon was a very good fighter but he was not used to that power," he said.

"Blyth was good, he was very sharp and very conditioned.

"He fired well."

Stokes confirmed Blyth would fight again this year, with a bout scheduled for November 21.
