The Eaton Lions Club is calling on community support to help fill Christmas hampers for South West families experiencing adversity this festive season.

The non-profit organisation is seeking non-perishable foods, vouchers or toys to help families who are battling hardship.

Eaton Lions Club member Jeni Goddard said community support played a major role in helping families during the Christmas period.

"The Christmas hampers are a way of helping families who've just suffered a major tragedy and need some extra support," she said.

"One of our aims is to serve the community and this is a great way of doing it."

Mrs Goddard has organised the Christmas hamper initiative for more than 10 years and said she was pleased people wanted to contribute.

"It is a good way to interact with the community and so far this year we have had a lot of involvement from local businesses and schools," she said.

This year the Eaton Lions Club aimed to fill 35 hampers to help families in need celebrate the Christmas holiday.

Eaton Lions Club treasurer Brian Hall said the organisation appreciated any form of community contribution to the cause.

"Christmas is coming with a rush so don't leave donations too late," he said.

Christmas hamper donation boxes are located at the Dardanup shire office and the Eaton Community Pharmacy.
