A major highway has been closed after a truck and car collided near the WA border.

The crash happened on the Eyre Highway in South Australia, about 75km east of the WA border, about 6am on Tuesday.

It is believed at least two people are seriously injured.

A WA police spokeswoman said their South Australian counterparts had taken carriage of the investigation.

“Major crash investigators will fly to the scene from Adelaide,” SA Police said.

“The Eyre Highway is expected to be closed in both directions for most of the day.”

“Travellers are advised to reconsider their plans for today.”

Trucks are asked to park at the Nullarbor Roadhouse or at Border Village if they haven’t already.
