Bunbury turned into "seniors city" at the weekend, according to the Meadowbrooke Lifestyle Estate South West Seniors Expo president Merv Mancer.

About 6000 people attended the expo on Sunday at the South West Sports Centre - slightly under the expected 8000, but Mr Mancer said the event was still a success.

"The main point is that seniors had the advantage of going to two events," Mr Mancer said.

The Seniors Recreation Council of Western Australia's 'Have a Go Day' was also held on Sunday at Bicentennial Square.

Mr Mancer said both events provided a great opportunity for seniors. "Bunbury was a bit of a seniors city and the main thing I'm interested in is that support for seniors," he said.

With about 90 sites filled at the expo, Mr Mancer said highlights included the entertainment and vintage cars on display.

"Everyone's talking about the scones though," he said.

"The Diggers' Club did all the catering and that was probably the biggest highlight.

"From the exhibitors and people taking part, the feedback is they all benefited from the expo and they will come back next year."

Plans are already underway for the 12th seniors expo next year with three sponsors signing up at Sunday's event, according to Mr Mancer.

But he said his focus was on getting more committee members, which were "urgently" needed.

Mr Mancer is also hoping to organise a seniors' Christmas concert for next month.
