Perth and WA weather: Thunderstorms, high temperatures forecast across the State
WA is in for a mixed bag of weather this weekend, with some areas set to be hit by thunderstorms while other parts experience sunshine and temperatures in the 40s.
Perth is one of the lucky areas that’s set for beautiful conditions, with a top of 30C on Saturday and 28C on Sunday.
The Pilbara is in for a wild ride, with thunderstorms and rain to hit the area while temperatures reach the low 40s.
Bureau of Meteorology’s Dean Narramore said south-eastern parts of the State can also expect some rain but the South West will stay mostly dry and sunny.
A severe heatwave warning was issued on Friday for the south interior district, particularly Warburton and is in place until Monday, January 13.
“Maximum temperatures in the low to mid forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the mid to high twenties,” the warning said.
“Severe heatwave conditions over the South Interior district are expected to continue into early next week till a milder change around mid-week.”
The Bureau of Meteorology says residents in the warning area should follow the below safety advice:
- Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
- Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
- If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
