WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT
At least six people have been killed after a helicopter crashed into New York’s Hudson River, with authorities now at the scene attempting a desperate rescue operation.
The chopper reportedly crashed at around 3.30pm Thursday (local time) while carrying adults and children.
Authorities have confirmed six people have been killed in the horrific crash, three children and three adults.
A pilot and a family visiting New York from Spain were inside the helicopter.

“Our hearts go out to the family and those on board,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams said during a press briefing.
Shocking vision of the helicopter submerged in the river quickly surfaced online after bystanders watched on in horror.
Another video showed the blade of the helicopter spinning and hitting the water after the body of the chopper was already in the river, suggesting the blade separated before the crash.
“Due to a helicopter crash in the Hudson River, in the vicinity of the West Side Highway and Spring Street, expect emergency vehicles and traffic delays in the surrounding areas,” a NYPD statement said.

In a statement, the FAA said:” A Bell 206 helicopter crashed and is submerged in the Hudson River in New York City. The number of people on board is unknown at this time. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The @NTSB will lead the investigation and provide any updates.”
