AFL Finals 2024: Minor premiers Sydney take on Port Adelaide for first spot in grand final decider
There are no more second chances tonight as minor premiers Sydney host Port Adelaide for a spot in the grand final.
Port have won their last eight against Sydney including a remarkable 112-point belting in round 21 which was the last time the Swans tasted defeat.
Will they make it nine-straight to finally make it to a grand final or will the Swans use their home deck and crowd to get back into another decider?

THREE QUARTER TIME Sydney 13.7 (85) Port Adelaide 6.9 (45)
It’s an even 40 point margin and the Swans are marching into another grand final. Port again not wihtout their chances but Sydney far more clinical. Chad Warner popped up with two goals and all four goals for the Swans came from turnover with the Power their own worst enemy.
Surely that is the game
Travis Boak has his second horror turnover for the quarter and Chad Warner is the one to cut it off and kicks his second goal.
Port make the sub
Mead is off Evans is on. In more worrying news Logan McDonald has gone down to the rooms with ankle complaint.
Dixon has a goal
Port go end-to-end this time and finally get a forward 50 mark with Dixon one-out in the goal sqaure. Back to 33 points.
Papley has a third
Travis Boak’s kick is jsut cut-off at half-back and Sydney are so quick in transition. Port defence are all at sea and Paplay marks inside the goal square an 11th goal from turnover.
Georgiades gets his first
Port go quick through the middle but the kick inside 50 is much better as it comes in faltter and faster Narkle finds Georgiades in front of goal and he converts to bring it back to 31 points
That might be the game
Joel Amartey has his third after the Swans rebound from another poor entry inside 50 for the Pwoer. IT’s a six goal margin and I can’t just see how the Port find enough goals.
Dixon is battling
He’s sturggled with his fitness all year and he looks cooked out their. Unable to hit the contest with any pace or create space with his body. Been a big part of the Power’s issues inside 50. Three behinds in the row for Port.
Second half underway
The Chad has entered the building as Warner kicks his first goal kicking on the run from 55m to put the margin back above 30 points. It’s a horror start for Port who cannot afford many more slip-ups.
