With no senior experience to draw upon, the South West Slammers women’s team were comprehensively thrashed 103-45 by the Joondalup Wolves on Saturday night at the Eaton Recreation Centre.

Coupled by the misfortune of Perth Lynx recruit Alex Ciabattoni remaining on the sidelines due to illness, American import Tylinn Carter was also unavailable due to severe shin soreness.

Carter, who sat on the bench during the game, did all she could to help encourage her teammates — however from the opening tipoff, it was evident the home side was well and truly out of their depth in almost every facet of play.

Aside from generating 24 turnovers (37 overall) in the first half, the Wolf Pack shot brilliantly inside the paint, which only dug the Slammers further into the mire.

The only crumb of comfort for coach Robyn Vogel was the fact her side did labour hard at times against the unbeaten Wolves — generating 38 rebounds, with 23 of these defensive.
