Perth Scorchers may have fallen short of the WBBL finals but there was still some standout individual performances with a trio of stars named in the Team of the Tournament.

In what was a lean tournament with the bat for most Scorchers stars, Beth Mooney continued to show her class with the WBBL all-time leading run-scorer named in the team for an incredible ninth time in 10 seasons.

The wicket-keeper batter finished with the second most runs for the series (386) at an average of 38.60 striking at 133.

Joining her was the golden arm winner Alana King, as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker finished with 20 wickets and 13.3 while also averaging a handy 17.7 with the bat.

It also highlights what a massive blow her injury could mean to Australia ahead of their series against India as they sweat on scans to her right hand after injuring it in the Scorchers’ final game defeat to the Hobart Hurricanes.

WBBL’s Young Gun winner Chloe Ainsworth also made the side with the pace bowler Perth’s second-leading wicket-taker with 12 scalps at an average of 18.58 for the season.

Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux was named captain of the side after leading the Renegades to finish in the top spot.

“The tenth Weber WBBL Team of the Tournament fittingly includes a combination of all-time greats, experienced and consistent performers, and new faces from Australia and overseas,” Big Bash boss Alistair Dobson said.

“There are few superlatives appropriate for the feats of Beth Mooney and Ellyse Perry throughout WBBL history, but we are equally pleased to recognise new players for their performances this season.

“Our congratulations go to all players selected, including the seven first-time players in the merit side, and first-time captain Sophie Molineux.
