Fremantle Dockers train-on Baynen Lowe returns to South Australia after injury at pre-season training

Fremantle train-on prospect Baynen Lowe has seen his stint with the Dockers come to an end after he injured his shoulder at pre-season training. Lowe joined the club after rookie Odin Jones was placed on the inactive list following back surgery, opening up a list spot for a potential supplemental selection period pick-up. The Dockers invited South Australian small forwards Lowe and Isaish Dudley to Cockburn from December 9. However, Lowe’s hopes of earning that spot were dashed by a shoulder injury last week, with Fremantle confirming on Wednesday that he would return home to SA. In a blow for his SANFL club Norwood, the 21-year-old may require surgery, with the Dockers to support Lowe during his recovery in Adelaide. Fremantle are now able to add another train-on to their pre-season program before the SSP signing deadline on February 21. The Dockers are yet to confirm whether Dudley will continue training with the club, with the Christmas break looming. It comes after the club confirmed Jones will miss the entire 2025 season after he fell awkwardly in a freak accident on the eve of pre-season training, fracturing his vertebrae. Fremantle executive general manager of football Joe Brierty said the club would continue to support the 19-year-old through his recovery. “This is an extremely unfortunate outcome for Odin,” Brierty said. “He’s a popular member of our playing group and we will continue to support him in his recovery every step of the way. “The thoughts of everyone at Fremantle are with Odin and his family at this time.”
