NPL WA: Beck Bennett’s crazy double-save helps Perth SC claim first silverware
Perth SC claimed their first trophy in the NPLWA Women’s competition at the weekend - with goalkeeper Beck Bennett’s unreal double save proving crucial in an epic comeback to claim the Night Series final.
Coming out of the break two goals down to Perth RedStar, Perth SC had a mountain to climb to get back into the match.
With 19 minutes left on the clock, Abbey Meakins converted a penalty to give the side some hope at 2-1.

Then when all hope looked lost, with RedStar closing in on goal, Bennett stepped up in an unreal moment to save her side.
The reigning NPLWA goalkeeper of the year was caught one-on-one at the far post but closed down on her opponent enough to deflect the strike.
The deflection landed at the feet of another RedStar threat - but Bennett was quick to recalibrate and save the next strike as well.
Judy Connolly found the net for Perth SC minutes later to force a penalty shoot-out.
Bennett stepped up again to take one of the penalties as her side claimed the shootout 7-6 and their first silverware since the competition started in 2020.
The win should prove a terrific launch pad into the NPL WA Women’s season, which kicks off this Sunday and sees Perth SC take on Subiaco AFC.
