Tarryn Thomas all smiles after training with Swan Districts with WA Football yet to sign off recruitment

Tarryn Thomas was all smiles as the disgraced former AFL player tries to get his final lifeline at Swan Districts. Hours after touching down in Perth, Thomas trained at Steel Blue Oval alongside potential teammates as he starts his fortnight trial. Thomas - who played 69 games for North Melbourne before being axed for a series of off field controversies involving women - looked fit as he slotted straight into full training. The midfielder is set for a role up forward at Swans if he gets an opportunity with the club needing to find a replacement for Tom Edwards who was drafted last week by Essendon. Thomas, 24, sported the No.58 guernsey as he was welcomed by potential teammates under the eye of coach Andrew Pruyn. His recruitment will have to be ticked off by WA Football who are yet to clear Thomas to play in the WAFL. Swan Districts chief executive Jeff Dennis said they didn’t expect to have an issue. “It is a step-by-step process. Right now, we need to know whether we’re interested, first of all,” he said. “We have already received the support of the AFL - they contacted us, we didn’t contact the AFL - and indicated they support our efforts. “We will, in due course, absolutely reach out to the football commission.”
