BDCA women’s: Ladder leaders Leschenault win both games of T20 double-header, Colts and Donnybrook win once

Ladder leaders Leschenault were the big winners of Sunday’s Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association T20 double-header at Forrest Park, emerging as victors in both of their games. The Green Caps defeated Colts by eight wickets in their first fixture of the day and backed up with a five-wicket win over Marist in their second contest. A strong showing with the ball saw Leschenault limit Colts to 9-81 in the first game, with Ella Harrison (3-11 from four overs) and Bec Campbell (2-5 from one over) taking multiple wickets. And a steady hand from captain Hollie Perkin, who made 43 not out from 53 deliveries, with good support from Harrison (21 not out from 24 balls) saw them home with 17 deliveries to spare in the chase. In their second outing, Leschenault again gave up a score of 9-81 bowling first, with Perkin (2-5 from three overs) and Alexzandra Jackson (2-12 from four overs) stepping up to show their depth of contributors with the ball. The Green Caps’ second chase did not go as smoothly as their first, finding themselves five wickets down in the 12th over while still needing another 26 runs for victory. Perkin (26 not out from 31 balls) and Harrison (15 not out from 12 balls) again combined to ensure there would be no upset loss, with Harrison smashing a boundary off the first delivery of the 16th over to seal the result. Reigning premiers Donnybrook won for the first time this season in their morning fixture, beating Marist by 22 runs. Batting first, the Dons posted a total of 5-83, with their innings held together by Ashleigh Towers’ 42 from 39 deliveries at the top of the order. The second innings saw Nat Flynn (3-6 from four overs) and Lisa Smith (2-3 from 3.4 overs) show all their experience to lead a brilliant bowling effort to have the Blues all out for 61. Colts also had one win on the day, defeating Donnybrook by eight wickets in their second outing. Donnybrook managed a score of 7-83 in the first innings, with Towers (15 from 17 balls) again top-scoring. Colts opted to take the game deep in their chase, with a steady hand from Samantha McClurg (29 from 69 balls) and some strong finishing from Emma Bresser (18 not out from 18 balls) seeing them over the line with 10 balls in hand. Leschenault have won each of their five games this season, with Colts sitting in second with a 3-2 win-loss record ahead of third-placed Donnybrook and fourth-placed Marist, who have one victory each.
