Cars damaged at Bunbury Passenger Terminal during Easter long weekend as two die in crash near Busselton

It has been a horror Easter long weekend for residents and emergency services with a double road fatality and holiday-makers returning from their travels to find the windows of their parked cars smashed. Multiple cars were targeted at the Bunbury Passenger Terminal on Picton Road on Saturday. Members of a community crime Facebook page expressed their concerns, with one describing the act as “unbelievable”. It is was not only coach service passengers who were targeted over the weekend, with reports of vehicles in South Bunbury also having their windows smashed on Good Friday. Holiday-makers in the city did not get away crime-free with four scooters stolen from the Discover Parks Bunbury foreshore. The crime around the city occurred during a bad weekend on South West roads, with a fatal crash occurring near Busselton on Saturday claiming two lives. A Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling west on Vasse Highway in Yoongarillup, 11km south of the city, when it collided with a Holden Astra about 2pm. The 19-year-old male rider and 27-year-old male driver suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. Vasse Highway was closed between Acton Park and Sues roads for multiple hours as emergency services dealt with the situation. The RAC Rescue helicopter was sent to Hester Brook, just north of Bridgetown, on Sunday afternoon after a multiple vehicle crash on South Western Highway near the Blackwood Park Road intersection. A person was flown to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment after volunteer firefighters helped free someone who was trapped. In another incident on Thursday afternoon, a 12-year-old boy was hit by a Toyota Prado after running across a busy Caves Road in Marybrook between Busselton and Dunsborough about 5.40pm. He suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Perth Children’s Hospital for treatment.
