Worthington impressive as Olympians outclass Spartans

Olympians are setting the bar high in the early rounds of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Basketball Association’s women’s second division after last week grabbing a decisive win against Spartans, 52-26.

The red-and-whites’ effort was led by Stevie Worthington, who shot a game-high 18 points that was complemented by Jada Hansen’s 10 points.

Olympians have opened the season with seven wins and one defeat to lead the standings by two games over CBC, who recorded a fifth win last weekend at the expense of Saints, 38-30.

Round nine starts this Friday night when CBC and Olympians face off at 7.15pm.

The round will be completed on Wednesday night from 6.10pm when Saints take on Spartans, who are chasing their first win.

Men’s division 2:

Men’s division 3:

CBC (1) d CBC (4) 30-23; Olympians (2) d Saints 60-48; Olympians (1) d Spartans 79-34.

Women’s division 2:

Olympians d Spartans 52-26; CBC d Saints 38-30.

Women’s division 3:

CBC (2) d Spartans Green 52-24; CBC (1) and Spartans White drew 38-38; Olympians (1) d Olympians (2) 48-30.
