WA weather: Unexpected update on the State’s wild weather after tornado and Aurora Australis
WA has been hit with extreme weather events over the last couple of days, including a freak tornado in Bunbury causing damage to at least 40 houses.
Despite this wild weather seen in the State’s south west, WA has no severe weather warnings as of Saturday evening according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Perth is even set to see blue skies in the coming days with moderate temperatures and cloudy skies.
The Bureau issued a severe weather warning on Thursday for areas running from Geraldton to Albany. The front was forecast to arrive on Friday, hitting coastal areas of WA.
Damaging winds and severe thunderstorms were predicted.
Bunbury experienced severe weather as a tornado ripped through the town on Friday evening, causing extreme damage to property and major power outages.
Following the devastation in Bunbury, residents witnessed the eerie red skies of the Aurora Australis.
Dark pinks and purples painted the skies in WA after The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Prediction Centre issued a geomagnetic storm alert.
The lights can be seen dancing across the WA skies again tonight. Ideal conditions include clear skies with minimal cloud cover.
Australian Space Weather Forecasting Centre said G4 severe geomagnetic storms are continuing through Saturday May 11.
